Riding out the Storm is Complete! Chapter 13: Happily Ever After

Rated E for Explicit Sex

Summary:

In Coming in First, Anthony and Ezra, British expats living in the United States, learned to put their differences aside to begin a relationship. Two years later, the amateur triathletes spend all their time together, bouncing between Ezra’s lake house and their homes in the city. Everything is going great… until life starts creeping in. In addition to a merger at Anthony’s work making his job more difficult, an injury sidelines Ezra for the triathlon season. Does their relationship have the foundation to withstand the stress of everyday life?

What happens when you take two people whose relationship is built on—and most of their free time is spent—working out together, and all of a sudden one of them can’t train?

Chapter 13 excerpt:

Now, close to sunset, Anthony still smelled like sleep and looked like hell. Ezra was in a similar state, but he had a plan for that evening that he was eager to put in motion.

He set down his teacup and interlaced his fingers with Anthony’s. “My dear, I need to run by the bookshop later. Would you like to join me for a shower and come along?” He was confident that, even in his current state, Anthony would jump at the chance to accompany him.

Anthony pulled back to rub his eyes under his sunglasses before answering, “Sure, but can we even get in? Isn’t it a construction zone right now?”

“Yes, I just need to grab something. I spoke to the contractor, and the path is clear.”

“What’s so important?”

Wouldn’t he like to know? Ezra thought with a grin. “Wait and see.”

Anthony drew his eyebrows together and grumbled playfully, “Wait and see? Do you have any idea how irritating that is?"

Chapter 12 excerpt:

Anthony and Eric’s footfalls were in sync within a few minutes of them setting off on their run. They started in silence until Eric spoke up, “How’s everything going with your angel? Things getting back to normal for you two?”

Anthony thought before replying. This year seemed to throw them curveball after curveball, but things seemed to be settling down. More importantly, he and Ezra were getting better at communicating to negotiate those bumps together.

“Not normal exactly, but better,” he said. “We… um… I’m looking to either sell or rent out my apartment and move into the bookshop. And, I quit my job. We’re trying to simplify some things between us, and I’d like to spend more time on coaching. You know better than anyone that I haven’t had as much time to dedicate to that as I’d like.”

“Wow,” Eric responded, shooting him a grin. “You guys are finally making things official and moving in together. Do I hear wedding bells?” He stopped abruptly and squealed, “Can I be the flower girl?”
